Is your teenager having trouble narrowing down their list of potential colleges? Are they having trouble finding the perfect school? Consider the advantages and disadvantages of each college. Some of the highest ranked schools are in smaller cities.
What is your student’s major, and is it offered at the college? Also, check to see that the school is accredited. Is a large school what your teenager wants? They offer more social opportunities, but small schools usually have better job placement programs.
Campus size and housing accommodations are key points in choosing a college. Does the prospective college offer dorm living, or are students expected to live off campus? Both dorms and off campus housing have separate expenses. Many colleges offer part-time employment to help offset the costs.
Especially if scholarships are involved, a college athletic career is a highly rewarding experience. If your son or daughter is dedicated to a certain religion, they probably want to attend a college with similar standards.

Did you know there are over 3,000 colleges and universities in this great land of ours? The list of colleges that you’re going to want to research should be sizable. While you are considering other colleges and doing your research, you should start to trim down your list to the colleges that you are going to visit, then eventually to the colleges that you plan to send in your application during the fall. Looking online is probably the top way to research colleges since the universities and institutions have so much information on the web and links to other colleges all over the country.
Just a few of them are The Fiske Guide to Colleges, The Insider’s Guide to Colleges, The College Handbook, and Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges, and those are just a few. They provide a ton of information and most of these books are constantly updated. University and college fairs have a tendency to provide a lot more excellent information about a huge variety of universities and colleges. Get on the school’s mailing list.
