Many of the largest Oil Companies on Earth are busy re-investing their money in alternative energies and alternative fuels. But if Oil is such a lucrative business, why would they be doing this? Why not re-invest in oil pipelines, refineries and exploration? Well there are a number of reasons why.
Whatever the real reason you have to admire one company over all for their excellent PR and advertisement and that company is British Petroleum and their new slogan; “Beyond Petroleum” which describes their program to invest millions in renewable energy, alternative fuels and alternative energy.
BP Brand Name – Political and Media Attacks Considered
After the BP Oil Leak occurred, the Federal Aviation Administration had a NOTAM flight advisory, and they were disallowing flights over many hundreds of square miles of the oil leak.
There was an interesting piece in MSNBC titled; BP’s Failures Made Worse by PR Mistakes – Oil Giant Struggles to Contain Undersea Gusher…and It’s Own Messaging,” a piece brought to them via the Associated Press by authors; Erin McClam and Harry R. Weber out of Houston.
Further, the folks who specialize in branding and marketing are making all sorts of comments about the public relations of British Petroleum during this time, which are quite self-serving, as most of them want to promote their branding and marketing abilities, and consulting services.
Tony Hayward in that instance told the American people what they wanted to hear, that BP would make it right, and they would pay. The reality is that British Petroleum most likely found the largest reservoir of gas and oil in the world. There is a lot more going on to this story than merely what the mindless masses watching the media perceive.
